Maintaining Your Gilson Snow Blowers
With winter around the corner, it is once again time to start thinking about snow removal once again. If you have a snow blower or you are going to purchase one this year, it is extremely important that you keep the blower well maintained. The last thing you want to do is end up outside on a cold day dealing with a snow blower that just wont start up for you. One great type of snow blower that you can purchase is the Gilson snow blowers; however, even though they are some of the best blowers available, you will still need to keep them well maintained. So, the following are a few important tips that will help you keep your Gilson snow blowers well maintained and running great.
Tip #1 Check All Moving Parts Each Fall One of the first thing you need to do to keep your Gilson snow blowers well maintained is to make sure that you check all of the moving parts every single fall to make sure that there are no problems. The belts can become loose or worn, so you should probably remove them and check them out thoroughly. If there are any worn parts, be sure that you replace them.
Tip #2 Check the Scraper Bar Another important part of maintaining your snow blower is making sure that you check out the scraper bar from time to time. This bar is the bar that scrapes the snow away from the ground. It is important that you check it to see if it needs to be repaired, since it tends to get quite worn.
Tip #3 Check the Rubber on the Auger and the Rubber Paddles It is also important that you check the rubber that is on the auger and the rubber paddles as well. If there is room for you to get a finger between the housing and the rubber, then you will need to replace the rubber.
Tip #4 Take a Close Look at the Tires The tires of your Gilson snow blowers are important as well. You should check them out to see how they are wearing and you should also make sure that they are properly inflated as well. If you have chains for the tires, then go ahead and put them on the snow blower well in advance so you wont have to worry about it when you are ready to start getting rid of the snow.
Tip #5 Change the Oil if Needed If the Gilson snow blowers you have contain oil, then you will need to change the oil before it is time to start using the snow blower. Make sure that you lube the gear box if it needs it as well.
Tip #6 Put Fresh Fuel in the Snow Blower Even if there is fuel in the snow blower from last year, it is important that you get rid of it and put fresh new fuel into the snow blower. This will help you make sure that the fuel is fresh so no problems occur when it is time to start using your snow blower.
